
The surge in energy demand all over the country due to infrastructure and economic development paved the way for the construction of the 54 MW Guimaras Wind Farm in San Lorenzo, Guimaras that generates 120 -gigawatt of natural energy annually that can actually sustain the energy needs of 48,000 houses.
Not long after its construction, the town of San Lorenzo experience a boost in their tourist arrivals as people would want to have their pictures taken near a wind turbine.
Today, 27 wind turbines are operational which add to the panoramic view of the municipality although only one turbine, that is Look-out Point 17 in Brgy. M.Chavez is open to the public for a visit and some picture taking. The view at the point is so great that several turbines can be photo-captured.
Recently, through the help of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) bamboo bikes were donated to the community in Brgy. M. Chavez to help as a livelihood program. The bambikes are now available at Look-out Point 17 for a minimum rental. Bikes that are made of bamboo are available for children and adults.
