EB MAGALONA BLUE CRABS

Tastier compared to other crabs along the coastal towns of Negros Occidental is how people describe the blue crabs from the town of EB Magalona some 24.3 kilometers away from Bacolod City.

Processed into crab meats, the blue crabs from EB Magalona are exported to the United States of America giving the fisherfolks and those in the crabmeat industry a good source of income and providing a stable economic mover for the town and the province of Negros Occidental in General.

It is said that around 12 tons of crabmeats are produced in the whole province daily and EB Magalona is a big contributor.

Of course, the story does not end there. On the tourism side, several  eco-tourism sites around the mangrove areas of EB Magalona have sprouted. Though some are operated privately, the local government  has capacitated coastal communities in operating food stalls that serve fresh seafoods and the blue crabs.

People can drop by for example at the Tomomgtong Mangrove Eco-Trail and have some peaceful time along the stretch of the green mangroves. Food stalls serving seafoods and blue crabs are lined-up inside where visitors can order fresh and have it cooked.

The project has gained traction and has become an attraction every day especially during the crab season.
