
Located in Brgy. Nagba, Cuartero, Capiz, the Capiz Ecology Park and Cultural Village is a destination that can bring you to the past and experience the simple lives of the early Capiznons.
The place started as a learning site for agro-forestry which was initiated by the provincial government but eventually became a facility that promoted sustainable community-based organic farming practices and responsible tourism. In the latter years, the provincial government of Capiz through its tourism office improved on its facilities that paved the way for the building of traditional structures ought to give people an opportunity to understand the lives of the early years in the province complimenting the organic-based agricultural practices that they have successfully initiated.
The native bahay kubos or nipa huts are made of bamboo where one will get to experience sleeping on a bamboo slat floor and use mosquito nets and the traditional lampara.
It’s a heritage place where people get to see and understand the rural lives in Capiz during the earlier times when things are not yet busy and modern. One will also get the opportunity to experience preparing and cooking native delicacies such as nilupak, inday-inday, bicho-bicho and even the traditional ginataang halo-halo. The experience is not complete without the actual preparation of pinapisikan na manok. Pre-arranged meals are available with a complete menu of all the native and chemical-free dishes sourced within the ecology park itself.
The complex is ideal for small gatherings, weddings, photoshoots and is more than recommended for people who want to walk away for a while from the crowded cities and places.
The park is a two hour-ride from Iloilo City and a short twenty minute ride from Roxas City via Cagay Road.
