Dating back from as early as the pre-Spanish regime, weaving in Brgy. Bagtason, Bugasong, Antique is already a part of their lives. Women learned to weave or habol their own patadyong a lose skirt worn by women especially in the lowlands.
Passing the skills of weaving from one generation to another, today most of the weavers of Bagtason Loom Weavers Association Inc. are men who are either head of the families or self-supporting individuals who need a stable income to pay for their tuition fees.
One can only imagine going inside the factory of Bagtason Loom Weavers and see an all men cast of weavers silently working on their weaving stools.
The weavers use abaca fibers, kilyo from cotton and Nakar imported from China as threads. In the 1940s Candelaria Blasé brought a new touch of class and design known as pinili-an or embroidered patadyong. It was in 2008 when the weavers decided to form the Bagtason Loom Weavers Association Inc. in order to avail of the support of the government and at the same time catch up with the bulk orders coming their way.
Today, visitors and clients can visit their office in Brgy. Bagtason and make reserve their orders as the demand makes it impossible for the weavers to stock their products
