GERMAN UNSON HOUSE

Located at the Silay City Heritage Zone at No.5 Zamora Street, Silay City the German Unson house is a bed and breakfast accommodation with a loaded past.

Declared as a heritage house by the National Historical Institute of the Philippines on April 16, 1993, the house was constructed in 1938 and renovated back to its original form in 1970. Neo-Spanish in style, its originally by Dr. Lepe de la Rama who handed the ownership to her daughter Fe de la Rama Ledesma Unson who later married German Locsin Unson before it was opened as a bed and breakfast establishment.

It is said that the family vacated the house during the Japanese occupation in Silay and was used by the Japanese soldiers. Fortunately, unlike other houses occupied by the Japanese that they destroyed, the German Unson House was spared. After the war, the family returned and renovated it.

Today, visitors can stay in one of its four rooms name after the owners and are decorated with artifacts, paintings and memorabilia from the 1930s to retain the heritage vibe. Delicious breakfast with a touch of the old elite taste is served to their guests.
