Located in Agtalin Hills, Brgy. Dulangan, Pilar, Capiz, the miraculous Agtalin Shrine is an 85-feet statue of the Blessed Mother constructed from the concerted love, effort, money and will of several individuals who eventually worked their way to set up the Agtalin Development Foundation which made the very hard technical requirements of the physical construction possible.
It is said that the work in 1991 started from a vision and a prayer of a terminally sick teenager who sought the help of God through prayers and dreamed of the Blessed Mother. Stories tell us that the choice of Agtalin Hills us the location of the statue begun when the sick boy started feeling well and saw a rainbow across the hill and prayed to honor the Blessed Mother. It was told that he later saw the rainbow settling on top of Agtalin Hill.
In July 21, 1993, the shrine was blessed by Bishop Onesimo Gordioncillo of Capiz and the parish priest of Dulangan, Rev. Fr. Domingo Deocampo.
Years passed, the Agtalin Shrine has attracted several thousands of devotees especially every 1st Saturday of the month with sick people seeking the help of the Blessed Mother in the statue of the Lady of Miraculous Medal. It is now considered by the International Marian Research Institute as pilgrimage area for the faithful with incurable diseases.
The shrine has an access road for vehicles carrying senior citizens and sick individuals while pilgrims can walk their way up through the 185 steps concrete stairway while praying.
The Agtalin Shrine is 41.1 kilometers away from Roxas City and 129.1 kilometers away from Iloilo City.
